The Los Angeles Festival of Books Drew Over 100,000 Attendees
More than 100,000 people came together for the 2026 Los Angeles Times Festival of Books, one of the nation’s biggest celebrations of books and reading.
Held April 18–19 at the University of Southern California, readers, writers, and families enjoyed a weekend focused on books, culture, and community. The Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs and the Los Angeles Public Library invited visitors to take part in special activities throughout the event.
Guests signed up for the Central 100 Library card, picked up free books in English and Spanish, and explored Central Library Pops, a pop-up book created with Angel City Press. The festival also gave people a chance to meet authors, discover new books, and share a love of reading. It also showed how libraries and the arts help bring communities together.
