New Lunch Program Brings Expanded Support to North Hollywood Seniors
The North Hollywood Senior Center celebrated the grand opening of a new senior lunch program, created through a partnership with the Los Angeles Department of Aging, the Valley InterCommunity Council (VIC), and with support from Councilmember Adrin Nazarian of Council District 2. The program aims to address food insecurity while creating a welcoming space for older adults in the community.
Food insecurity affects one in four households in Los Angeles County, with seniors among those most impacted. The new site is part of a larger network of 180 congregate meal locations operated across the city and county. A full room on opening day reflected the strong need for accessible, nutritious meals in North Hollywood.
While the lunch is the main draw, organizers emphasized that it is only the first step. Participants also gain access to additional services, including nutrition education, health care support, mental health resources, and wellness activities that promote strength and connection.
The program is available to adults ages 60 and older and requires a simple registration. For those unable to visit in person, home-delivered meals are also available. Seniors can find this and other lunch program locations throughout Los Angeles by visiting LAParks.org.
