These "Cookiepreneurs" are Changing the Face of Autism
Commuters expecting their usual morning rush got a sweet surprise this week as local students transformed a simple transit stop into a celebration of inclusion. In honor of Autism Awareness Month, Metro partnered with the Wiley Center to host a special "station activation" featuring free treats and even better conversation.

The stars of the show were the "Cookiepreneurs"—students from the center’s autism program who bake the cookies from scratch. Using a professional kitchen, these students learn independence and vital life skills. For many, this event was about more than just snacks; it was a chance to share their personal stories and break down stereotypes.

"We are just trying to show that autism is not what people think it is," shared one student. "We’re human, too." From custom logos designed by the students to "smiles for miles" from hungry riders, the event proved that a little kindness—and a great cookie—can go a long way in building a stronger community.
